Wednesday night featured two of the best teams from the 614: Westerville Central took down their opponent 54-45 in a huge non-conference matchup.
The game started with senior guards Dallas Tucker and Hilliard Bradley’s Cade Norris trading baskets, both scoring 7 points in the first quarter. Westerville Central jumped out to a 14-13 lead at the end of the first. Hilliard then came out in a zone and really locked in defensively, allowing only 3 total points halfway through the quarter and took a 9-point lead. It looked like Bradley was starting to find their rhythm, but late back-to-back threes by Devin Martin cut the Jaguar lead to 3 at the half.
The second half was all about Dallas Tucker and Westerville Central’s team defense. Dallas scored 15 of his 26 points in the second half, and the Warhawks turned up the defensive intensity, giving up only 18 total points in the half. They went on to improve to 3-1 on the season.
