On Friday, August 22nd, 2026, no less than 20 minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Massillon Tigers and Glenville Tarblooders met up at the Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in a contest that had much hype surrounding it. Not only did it feature two of the best schools in the state, but it was also a rematch, as the previous year Glenville walked away with the win. Could Glenville repeat history, or would Massillon rewrite those wrongs?
Massillon would be in control for most of the game, finishing with 186 total passing yards, with Rasmus Haines, starting Quarterback, junior, and Deontay Malone, Receiver, Senior, Ohio State commit, contributing the most to the passing yards. Malone put up 147 yards out of the total yards and a touchdown. Giorgio Jackson Jr., also added a receiving touchdown. Savior Owens had 23 carries 186 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
Glenville would struggle to find their footing out in Massilon, something that persisted throughout the game. Kaylon Bailey, Defensive End, Senior, Colorado commit, was a stand out on the defensive end, putting up a strong effort to keep Glenville in the fight. Offensively, they were not able to keep up with Massillon. Valonte McCord, Junior, Running back, would run in a touchdown as a response to Massillon’s early scoring.
The Tarbloiders would come out into the second half with a new sign of life after going into it 17-6. De’Anthony Crittenden, Senior, Receiver, JMU commit, returned the opening kickoff for a 70-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 17-12 but Glenville failed to get the extra point.
Senior Quarterback, Lamarques Greenwood, exited the game in the 4th quarter due to injury. He finished the game with 65 yards on the ground. Backup Quarterback, Junior, Elvis Koutsakis, not only entered the game but would score a clutch touchdown to keep the game alive at 24-18.
The Massillon Tigers would seal the game at 31-18 with a 40-yard TD run by Owens. With the Tigers winning Week 1 at home against a strong Tarblooders team, what’s next? Next week, Massillon heads out to Glenoak. The Tarblooders will look to bounce back as they head to Olentangy?
