Golden Flashes Enter MAC Tournament with High Hopes
The Kent State Golden Flashes are entering the MAC Tournament with a 25-6 record, including a 15-3 conference record. They ended the regular season with a winning streak of 22 consecutive home games dating back to last season.
Kent State's last two home games were impressive victories against Ohio University Bobcats and their rivals, the Akron Zips. The Golden Flashes defeated the Bobcats 82-75 and the Zips 89-84 in exciting games that showcased their skill and determination. With wins by both Kent State and Akron in the quarterfinals, the teams could face each other again in the semifinals.
Last year, Kent State faced off against Akron in the 2022 MAC Championship game, with Akron coming out on top with a score of 75-55. This year, Kent State is looking to take home the championship for the first time since the 2016-17 season and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
In addition to their impressive team record, several Kent State players received end-of-season awards from the MAC. Malique Jacobs won Defensive Player of the Year, Jalen Sullinger won Sixth Man of the Year, and Sincere Carry earned All-MAC First team and All-Defensive team honors for the second year in a row.
With talented players and a strong team record, the Kent State Golden Flashes are poised to make a deep run in the MAC Tournament and compete for the championship title.
