Woodridge & Fairview Dominates in Fashion to Advance to Sectional Finals
Tournament play has officially commenced in Northeast Ohio for girls volleyball, with Woodridge High School in Peninsula, Ohio hosting back to back Sectional Semifinal matchups.
The first matchup began with the #32 seed Cleveland Campus International Trailblazers taking on the #27 seed Fairview Warriors. The Warriors defeated the Trail Blazers 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-10) completing the full sweep to advance to the Sectional Finals.
The Warriors finished the night with a total of 32 kills and 21 aces, with Kennedy Crandall and Brooke Schmidt swinging for 7 kills a piece and Rebecca Carey & Chloe King dominating the serving war with 5 aces each. Warrior Freshman Setter Chloe King also finished with 24 assists of the night. Fairview will travel to Bay High School to take on the Rockets for a chance to advance to the District Semifinals.
The following matchup commenced between the #18 seed St. Vincent St. Mary Fighting Irish and the #16 seed Woodridge Bulldogs. Woodridge dominated the Fighting Irish 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-21) to advance to Sectional Finals.
The Bulldogs finished the night with a total of 29 kills and 11 aces. Bulldog Junior Libero Caitlyn Patterson continued her defensive dominance with 14 digs and added on 4 service aces, while Bulldogs Junior Setter Cecilia Patterson and Junior Outside Hitter Kaitlyn Shipbaugh dominated offensively with Patterson’s 29 assists & Shipbaugh’s 13 kills. The Bulldogs will also travel to Bay High School to take on the Chagrin Falls Tigers for their chance to advance to the District Semifinals at Holy Name High School on October 25th.
