Stow’s Defense Shuts Down Copley’s Dominance in 51-31 Victory
The Stow-Munroe Falls Lady Bulldogs ended their 2023 year with a 51-31 victory over the dominant Copley Lady Indians. Going into the matchup, the Bulldogs were coming off a 34-26 win over Canfield, with a 7-3 record. The Lady Indians were coming off a dominant 81-50 win over Streetsboro, with a 9-1 record.
1st Half Back & Forth Tug Of War
The 1st half concluded in a very tight knotted 15-11 Stow lead over Copley. Center Kennady Dodds led the Bulldogs with 9 points, while Walsh commit Guard Izzy Callaway had 5 points in the half for Copley. In what was a very contested matchup, Stow’s defense was starting to shine over Copley’s dominant offense.
Stow’s Defense Slams The Door in 2nd Half
In the final half of play, Stow came out as a completely different team than the 1st half, as the Lady Bulldogs racked up 21 points in the 3rd quarter to launch themselves to a commanding 36-23 lead over the Lady Indians, Guard Anna Hurst led the charge with 8 points in the quarter. Stow’s defense led by Rachel Frailey, also shut down Copley’s offense completely, only allowing 12 points in the 3rd, the most of the 40 minutes. With a comfortable lead, and a defense shutting down a 48+ points per game team, Stow kept their foot on the pedal to victory 51-31 over the Lady Indians to end their 2023 year in fashion.

For the Bulldogs, Center Kennady Dodds led the Bulldogs with 17 points on the night, while Guard Anna Hurst followed with 11 points. Guard Alaina Ray and Forward Kadence Dodds also added 8 points each. For the Indians, Guard Izzy Callaway finished with 14 points, while Guard Evelyn McKnight followed with 10 points.
What’s Next?
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs advance to 8-3 and will kick off 2024 at home against the Twinsburg Tigers on January 3rd at 7pm. The Lady Indians fell to 9-2 with the loss and will host the Tallmadge Blue Devils on January 3rd at 7pm.
