Panthers Head Coach Reaches Milestone in Victory over Akron
On their trip to the state next door, Pittsburgh Panthers Softball head coach Jenny Allard reached a huge milestone of 700 career wins in their 10-2 win over the Akron Zips at Lee R. Jackson field. With the win, Allard became one of the 43 active division I head softball coaches to reach the 700-career win milestone.
In the win, the Panthers saw seven of their nine starters record a hit, with four recording multi-hit efforts. Junior Utility Kylie Griggs went 3 for 3 (2 Singles, 2B, 2 Runs, RBI), junior Catcher Amanda “Tuta” Ramierz went 3 for 4 (2 Singles, 1 HR, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs), senior Infielder Kat Rodriguez went 3 for 4 (3 Singles, 2 Runs, RBI) and senior Outfielder Cami Compson went 2 for 4 (2 Singles, Run, RBI). On the mound, starting pitcher junior Kendall Brown allowed 3 hits for 2 runs, an error and walked one batter, while striking out one in 3 innings, while junior Kyra Pittman (6-7) claimed the win striking out 2 batters and allowing one hit in 4 innings.
For the Zips, freshman Infielder Sophia Wygast went 2 for 3 (2 Singles, RBI) in the batter’s box while junior Outfielder Autumn Bailey (Single, RBI) and freshman Utility Lily Sullivan (Single) went 1 for 3 for 2 runs scored by sophomore Infielder Brooke Sivek. On the mound, starting pitcher sophomore Haley Croyle (6-9) took the loss after allowing 7 runs on 10 hits and 6 errors, while walking and striking out one batter each in 5 innings, while redshirt senior Cailey Joyce allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 errors, while striking out 2 batters in the remaining 2 innings.
With the win, the Panthers returned back to Pittsburgh advancing to a 12-25 record, while the Zips fell to a 16-20 record.
