Flashback: Fairmont State Claims the "Falcon Bowl" Over NDC
Week 4 of College Football has arrived, with the Notre Dame College Falcons hosting the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons for the 2023 "Falcon Bowl." Both teams aimed to rebound after losses in Week 3. The game was marked by penalties, and the 1st quarter concluded with Fairmont State leading by a narrow 3-0. However, the momentum shifted when Kobe Harris scored an 8-yard touchdown for Fairmont State at the start of the 2nd quarter. NDC struggled offensively in the first half, failing to reach the end zone. The half wrapped up with a 3-yard FSU touchdown by Michael Floria.
The 2nd half presented a stark contrast for NDC's Falcons. Their defense held Fairmont State scoreless for the entire 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the offense rallied, amassing 250 yards and securing two touchdowns by Michael Solomon and Devin Morgan, narrowing the score to 17-14. Despite their efforts, the Falcons couldn't complete the comeback. Critical penalties and consecutive interceptions during two crucial late-game possessions sealed their fate. The Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State emerged victorious, winning the Falcon Bowl for the first time since 2016 and ending NDC's 18-home game winning streak that began in 2019.
Next Saturday at 1 pm, Fairmont State will host Post, while Notre Dame College seeks redemption against Frostburg State, also at 1 pm.
