Cavaliers Kicks Off 2024 with Season Opener Win over Clarion
The Walsh Cavaliers women’s soccer team kicked off their 2024 campaign with a 3-2 win over the Clarion Golden Eagles. The Cavaliers, who finished their 2023 season with a 9-7-2 record, are aiming for another opportunity at the Great Midwest title after falling to Cedarville in the quarterfinal round the previous year.
The Cavaliers found the net three times on 21 shots, with 5th year Midfielder Hannah Stein (7’, 16’) scoring two, while Junior Forward Katie Corrigan (54’) scored the third of the day. The Golden Eagles tallied two goals on ten shots, with Sophomore Forward Ciara Dimauro (7’) scoring the first and Freshman Forward Leah Deal (31’) taking the second.
In the net, Sophomore Goalkeeper O’Malley Quinlan finished with four saves for the Cavaliers, while Golden Eagle Sophomore Sage Sherk saved seven shots.
