In their first game of the season, the Cleveland Charge pulled off a 116-109 win against the Wisconsin Herd, thanks in large part to Emoni Bates. His impressive three-point shooting has already earned him a new nickname: "3moni." Emoni Bates Shines in G League Debut
Emoni Bates, on a two-way contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, didn't waste any time making his mark in the G League. He scored 29 points, leading the game in scoring and showing off his range with seven three-pointers.
Charge's Comeback in the Third
Down by as many as 14 points in the second quarter, the Charge had some ground to make up after halftime. They did just that, putting up 39 points in the third quarter. Bates was a big part of that push, hitting three threes early in the period to grab the lead for the Charge.
Team Effort Seals the Deal
Isaiah Mobley put up a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Sharife Cooper added 16 points and eight assists. Contributions from Zhaire Smith and Aleem Ford, who both scored in double digits, helped the Charge seal their win.
Herd's Standout Performances
The Herd had their moments too, with Stephen Thompson scoring 16 points. Marques Bolden, a former Charge player, added 15 points off the bench. The Herd started strong, leading by 9 at the end of the first quarter and holding a 58-50 lead going into the half.
