Rockets Completes 2nd Half Comeback over Western Michigan to Advance to Semifinals
The Toledo Rockets overcame a shocking 1st half to defeat the Western Michigan Broncos 72-61. After trailing 42-32 at halftime, the Rockets flew their way back to claim victory and advance to the semifinals. Fifth Year Guard Quinesha Lockett led the Rockets with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, while MAC Player of The Year Fifth Year Guard Sophia Wiard, Senior Guard Khera Goss, and Senior Forward Sammi Mikonowicz each had 12 points. Mikonowicz, Wiard and Junior Forward Jessica Cook also clashed the boards for the Rockets with 7 rebounds each. For the Broncos, Senior Guard Hannah Spitzley led with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Redshirt Sophomore Forward De’Ahna Richardson followed with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
Bulls Survives Shootout over Bowling Green 70-64
The #5 Buffalo Bulls defeated the #6 Bowling Green Falcons 70-64. In a 2nd half shootout, the Bulls pulled away from the Falcons to advance to the semifinals. Redshirt Junior Guard Chellia Watson led with 24 points and 3 rebounds, while Senior Guard Rana Elhusseini, who stole the ball to seal the game with 13 seconds left, followed with 17 points and 5 rebounds. For the Falcons, Freshman Guard Paige Kohler led with 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Junior Guard Amy Velasco followed with 19 points and 3 rebounds.
Cardinals Cruises to Semifinals in 77-53 Win Over Ohio
The #2 Ball State Cardinals defeated the #7 Ohio Bobcats in a smooth 77-53 win to advance to the semifinals. Junior Forward Alex Richard led with 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Junior Guard Ally Becki followed with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. For the Bobcats, Freshman Guard Laylay Fantroy led with 18 points and 5 steals, while Freshman Guard Monica Williams followed with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Golden Flashes Edges Out Huskies 63-60
The Kent State Golden Flashes survived a nail-biting thriller to advance to the semifinals in 63-60 win over the Northern Illinois Huskies. Junior Forward Bridget Dunn led the Golden Flashes with a 14 point and 15 rebounds double-double, while Freshman Forward Janae Tyler followed with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Junior Forward Jenna Batsch and Redshirt Senior Guard Katie Shumate also adding 14 points each. For the Huskies, Senior Guard Kortney Drake finished with 17 points, while Redshirt Junior Sidney McCrea followed with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
